Blinded by the Light vertelt het waargebeurde verhaal van Javed (Viveik Kalra), een Britse tiener van Pakistaanse afkomst die in 1987 opgroeit in de stad Luton. Hij schrijft poëzie om te ontsnappen van de intolerante en inflexibele mensen in zijn leven, waaronder zijn traditionele vader. Wanneer Javed door een klasgenoot in aanraking wordt gebracht met Bruce Springsteen, gaat hij hier helemaal in op en krijgt hij het zelfvertrouwen om ook zijn eigen stem te laten horen.
