De Amerikaanse visagiste Joy Miller wordt door een foutje aangezien als een Oost-Europese hoogleraar. In deze functie krijgt ze een baan aangeboden om de kinderen van de Oost-Europese dictator Boris Pochenko les te geven. Dit aanbod slaat zij niet af. Eenmaal in het land aangekomen, probeert de visagiste het land warm te maken voor haar westerse ideeën. Dat levert heel wat hilarische situaties op
