Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog verblijven de kinderen Lucy, Edmund, Susan en Peter, in het landhuis van een oude professor, Er is daar voor hen maar weinig te beleven, totdat ze een magische kledingkast ontdekken die toegang geeft tot het land van Narnia. Het is een prachtige, vredige wereld die bewoond wordt door pratende dieren, dwergen en reuzen. Het land is echter betoverd door de witte heks Jadis, waardoor het er altijd winter is. Onder begeleiding van de leeuw Aslan gaan de kinderen de strijd aan om Narnia te bevrijden van Jadis.
