Eric Liddell en Harold M. Abrahams treffen elkaar op weg naar de Olympische Spelen van 1924. Liddell is een Schotse missionaris en loopt zijn wedstrijden voor God, terwijl Abrahams als joods student aan Cambridge voor de roem loopt en zich probeert te ontworstelen aan de vooroordelen.
